Why you should vote for Rebecca

OK, You have received your EARLY ballot now or you're on your way to the polls so why should you vote for me?  The nation is at a desperate time in its history.  I am running for office, because I care enough about my country and my state to put my life plans on hold and work to become your U.S. Representative.  I’d rather be a part of the solution than complain about the problems.  No rhetoric, just my thoughts and feelings.

As an accountant, fiscal responsibility is near to my heart.  We have to work hard toward balancing the budget and reducing costs to prevent leaving an unimaginable burden to our children and grandchildren.  This will require some very difficult choices and new ways of looking at how things are done.  Because I am new to government, I can bring a fresh approach to the solutions, and not be locked into repeating the same ineffective actions of the other two parties.

As a Green, environmental issues and social justice are also important to me.  It is said, a country is judged by how it cares for the individuals in the lowest ranks of its society.  How do we want to be remembered in the future?  We should take these difficult times to re-examine the systems in place and re-invent the broken ones.   The solutions should be driven by common sense and input from informed professionals, not limited to special interests and lobbyists.

I truly believe that with creative thinking and non-partisan cooperation, we can move closer to a balanced budget, increase the use of alternative energy, add green jobs, and establish real immigration reform.  I have my ideals for what the basic levels of service our society should provide to it’s people, but let’s face it, with the breakdown of the financial markets in the recent years, the path to realize those higher standards will be even more difficult and require tough choices and change.

I’ll be different from the others because I plan on being fully accessible to my constituents.  The main complaint I’ve heard about the current representation is that they do not respond to your concerns.  My term will be transparent to everyone and I will be an inexhaustible advocate for the people and environment.  I’ll hold regular town hall style meetings to stay in touch with you and to keep you all informed on what’s being worked on in Washington.

They will tell you a vote for a third party is a wasted vote.  Since when is a vote based on principle and made with conscience wasted?  With an approval rating for Congress at an all time low of 14%, an alternative to the two main parties seems the only answer.

I ask you to vote the person, vote your principles, not vote the usual non-responsive party that has nothing new to offer.  But please VOTE on November 2nd!
